Webinar Notes: Embed Bold BI AI Assistant & Talk to Data

In this webinar, Rajendran, Development Head at Bold BI®, demonstrates how the Bold BI AI Assistant transforms traditional dashboard analysis into fast, conversational insights. The AI removes the need for filters, clicks, and manual report creation, enabling you to ask natural-language questions and instantly receive charts, summaries, explanations, and recommendations.

Why conversational analytics matters

Traditional dashboards are powerful, but analyzing them can be time-consuming, especially for nontechnical users. Today’s users expect to interact with systems the same way they interact with AI tools like ChatGPT: by simply asking questions. Bold BI bridges this gap by adding conversation-driven insight retrieval directly into your analytics workflow.

Key capabilities demonstrated

  • Natural-language querying for charts, KPIs, summaries, and explanations.
  • Semantic interpretation: understanding user intent.
  • Follow-up guidance enabling deeper analysis.
  • Chat history to resume previous analysis.
  • Multidataset orchestration with permission awareness.
  • Embedding capabilities for integrating the assistant into applications.
  • Strong safety guardrails preventing unauthorized or sensitive outputs.

Real-world retail scenario

Using sample sales data, Rajendran demonstrated how a retail manager could uncover:

  • Month-over-month sales patterns.
  • Top-performing and declining products.
  • Category contributions to revenue.
  • High-value customer segments.
  • Regional sales trends.
  • Discount leakage affecting profitability.

Instead of digging through dashboards, the user simply asks questions and the AI Assistant provides visualizations and actionable insight narratives.

Embedding the AI Assistant

Rajendran walked attendees through the embedding steps:

  1. Generate an embed token.
  2. Install the Embed SDK.
  3. Add a container element.
  4. Initialize the Assistant via JavaScript.

Branding, assistant naming, prompt limits, and data-source restrictions can be customized directly through the SDK.

Security, governance, and guardrails

All interactions respect Bold BI’s RBAC and row-level security. The AI Assistant:

  • Only accesses permitted data.
  • Blocks sensitive or irrelevant queries.
  • Produces structured, safe outputs.
  • Executes SQL only inside the Bold BI service layer.

Q&A

Q: Is there an estimator to estimate how much the feature will cost?

A: We’re actively working on a built-in cost estimator for AI usage. At the moment, customers can bring their own Azure OpenAI or OpenAI account, which gives you full control over usage and billing.

We also preload default AI credits so you can explore the feature right away. As part of our roadmap, we’re adding the ability to purchase AI credits directly from Bold BI with clear visibility into consumption.

If you prefer to use our managed AI cloud service and need additional credits, you can reach out to our support team.
