17.1.30

Released on October 1, 2026

What’s New

AI

AI Agent MCP Support for Context-Aware Analytics

  • Bold BI now supports Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Skills, enabling compatible AI agents to securely connect with Bold BI and perform supported actions on dashboards, data sources, and other Bold BI resources. This enables intelligent, context-aware analytics workflows and easier integration with external AI agents.

Multi-Model AI Support for Flexible AI Experiences

  • Bold BI now supports multiple AI models and providers, giving organizations greater flexibility to configure their preferred supported AI model and use Bold BI’s AI-powered analytics capabilities based on their requirements.

Server

Permission Management for Dashboard Views

  • Permission management for dashboard views has been simplified with a unified authorization framework that inherits permissions from the parent dashboard. The Read, Read Write, and Read Write Delete access levels are now consistently available across All Views, Views in Dashboard, and Specific Views scopes. This ensures consistent permission behavior across the user interface, APIs, viewer experience, and backend operations.

Data Sources

Added Support for Azure Databricks Connector

  • #853053 – Bold BI now supports the Azure Databricks Direct Connector with Live Mode, enabling users to connect directly to Azure Databricks and analyze data in real time. This integration allows organizations to leverage Databricks-powered data platforms for analytics, reporting, and dashboard creation without requiring data extraction. Users can build interactive dashboards with up-to-date insights while ensuring a seamless and efficient analytics experience.

Added support for Code View Initial Load Cache

  • #852579 – Bold BI now supports Code View Initial Load Cache for Code View data sources. When enabled, the SQL query is executed during dashboard initialization, and the query result is cached using the existing Hybrid Data Cache infrastructure. This enhancement helps improve dashboard performance by reducing repeated database queries and enabling faster dashboard loading. It also reuses the existing Hybrid Data Cache security, encryption, authorization, and data isolation controls.

Deployment

Support for Linux-based Azure Web App Deployment

  • Bold BI now supports deployment on Linux-based Azure Web Apps using containers. This enhancement expands the available hosting options, allowing customers to deploy Bold BI in a Linux-based container environment on Azure Web Apps.

IDP

API Support for Known-Domain Configuration Management

  • Bold BI now provides API support for managing Known-Domain configurations. With APIs to retrieve and update Known-Domain.json settings, administrators can automate domain configuration tasks, simplify maintenance, and ensure consistent security policies across environments.

API Support for UMS Site Settings Management

  • Added API support for retrieving and updating UMS site settings. This enhancement enables administrators to programmatically manage site configurations, streamline administrative operations, and integrate settings management into automated deployment and governance workflows.

Data Hub

  • #841305 – Added support for configuring additional opt_fields in the Asana DataHub Connector – Enhanced the Asana DataHub Connector to support custom opt_fields parameters in API requests. This improvement allows users to retrieve additional task, project, and related entity attributes directly from Asana, providing greater flexibility in data extraction and enabling richer datasets for reporting and analysis within DataHub.
  • Added pagination support in the DataHub Destination tab – Enhanced the DataHub Destination tab by introducing pagination controls, enabling users to browse destination entries page by page instead of loading all records at once. This improvement reduces page load time, provides a smoother user experience, and makes it easier to locate and manage destination configurations in environments with a large number of records.
  • Added TCPS Support for Oracle Connector, Oracle Data Store, and IMDB – Enhanced Oracle integration capabilities by introducing TCPS (Transport Layer Security over TCP) support for the Oracle Connector, Oracle Data Store, and IMDB. The UI enhancements make it easier for users to view and navigate schema information, improving the overall data source management experience.
  • Added Grouping Support for Data Filters and Improved Data Filters Dialog UI – Redesigned the Data Filters dialog to provide a cleaner and more user-friendly filtering experience. Users can now create nested filter groups with AND/OR operators, view the generated filter query instantly, and manage filters efficiently through dedicated actions. These enhancements make it easier to visualize and configure complex filter relationships, streamline filter management, and help ensure accurate data retrieval for reporting and analysis.
  • Improved Data Relationship Dialog UI – The Data Relationship dialog now provides an improved interface for managing relationships directly in the Query Designer. View and manage cardinality, filter direction, and active status, edit relationships with double-click, and automatically restore saved relationship connections and table layouts when reopening or switching data sources.
  • Added Graphical Representation for Table Joins and Relationships – Introduced graphical relationship lines in the Data Source Designer to visually represent configured tables and their join relationships. This enhancement helps users better understand the data model, verify table connections, and simplify data source configuration and analysis.

Breaking Changes

Deployment

  • Migration to Linux-based Azure Web Apps – Support for deploying Bold BI on Windows-based Azure Web Apps is being deprecated. Customers currently hosting Bold BI on Windows-based Azure Web Apps are recommended to migrate their existing deployments to Linux-based Azure Web Apps using containers.
    Action Required:
    • Existing Windows-based Azure Web App customers are requested to upgrade their Bold BI environment to v16.3.5.
    • Plan and perform the migration to a Linux-based container application.
  • Docker Hub Registry for Container Images
Unified Container Image Registry – Starting with Bold BI v17.1, both single-container and multi-container images will be served from Docker Hub to maintain a consistent container image distribution workflow. Previously, single-container images were hosted on Docker Hub, while multi-container images were hosted on Google Artifact Registry.
